How it works
All-in sustaining cost (AISC) is a producer's cost per ounce. Under World Gold Council guidance it covers mining, processing, site and corporate G&A, royalties and production taxes, sustaining capital and reclamation, less by-product credits.
AISC is a non-GAAP measure. Most producers follow the World Gold Council guidance, and NI 52-112 requires a reconciliation to the financial statements in the MD&A. Check what is included before comparing two companies.
Margin is the metal price minus AISC. It is before income taxes, growth capital, exploration outside sustaining costs and financing costs, so it is not profit or cash flow. The table shows the margin if the price were 10% or 20% higher or lower than the price you enter.
